About
Standing Up for Science and Evidence-Informed Decision-Making in Canada.
Evidence for Democracy is a grassroots organization that believes a strong democracy requires governments that make policy decisions informed by the best available evidence.
Through our issue-based campaigns, original research and training programs, we strive to empower the voice of the science community in public policy, while cultivating public demand for strong policies informed by the best available evidence.
The Science Advocacy Hub
For over a decade, Evidence for Democracy has delivered training to place knowledge and skills into the hands of Canada’s scientific community and the wider public.
We are not alone in our efforts. Today, there are several individuals and organizations who are trying to support researchers in their efforts to engage in policy. But what has been missing is an open community resource: a one-stop portal that researchers can access to find all of these opportunities.
This is where our brand new Science Advocacy Hub comes in. Designed with the needs of science advocates in mind, our Hub provides a centralized open-access platform, offering a comprehensive range of over 90 resources, including awards, courses, training opportunities, internships, and relevant readings.
Our Vision for the Hub
This is just the beginning: our new Hub is a first step towards our vision to provide advocacy resources on a wider scale, and build a space where seasoned advocates and budding grassroots movements converge to exchange ideas, resources, and grow support for science issues.
In the coming months, we will continue to develop the Hub further, including developing additional resources, and curating timely opportunities.
We have big plans for the Hub: with your support, we can go further in supporting researchers across Canada to engage with policy-makers.
