In recent years, people across Canada have observed, in near real-time, the vital difference that science and research can make in addressing the challenges that define our future. Today, the need for robust and informed decision-making, rooted in scientific insights, has never been more important — especially amid the growing complexities of climate change, and the intricate web of issues surrounding food insecurity, social disparities, looming pandemics, and more.

Throughout this guide, you will find the foundational knowledge and tools necessary for scientists to effectively communicate with policy-makers and engage in advocacy, as well as firsthand experiences from parliamentarians reflecting on their experiences interacting with the science community.
The Evidence Playbook offers information and tools to help change-makers and organizations restore evidence-informed decision-making when a government has taken a dismissive stance toward science. The ideas outlined in the Playbook stem from the experiences and successes of E4D, which embarked on a quest to restore EIDM in Canada in 2012 and continues to advocate for it today.
